NOVEMBER 2024: DIVIDEND INCOME AND EXPENSES

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones! Mine was great—I headed down to New York City to enjoy the feast with my mom and other family members.

A few years ago, I read a blog post that’s stuck with me ever since. The author mentioned how, once they became stable in their career, started a family, and began living their best life, they realized something profound: as life gets busier with new responsibilities, the time you have left with your parents grows shorter.

It hit me hard because it’s true. For those who don’t make family visits a priority, the holidays can be a perfect reminder. It doesn’t take much time to connect, but for some, it’s already too late. The choice is ours while we still have it.

That idea has been living rent-free in my mind ever since. The older I get, the harder it can be to balance everything—career, family, personal goals. But with discipline and intention, I’ve learned to make time for what truly matters. That’s why, on days like Thanksgiving, I try to savor the moment while we’re all still here.

Switching gears, let’s talk about Black Friday! I hope those of you who participated snagged some genuine deals. There’s no shortage of questionable ones out there. Have you noticed how some stores label products as “discounted,” but the prices were the same all along? It’s a game if you’re not paying attention.

On our end, we finally decided to retire our old couch after five years. It served us well, but it was time. We upgraded to a new recliner couch set that was tagged at $1,899.99 but sold for $1,619.97.

Was it a true sale? Who knows!

But it’s affordable, comfortable, and works for us—that’s what matters most.
